Here at Upton Young Farmers we never pass up a chance to get into the ‘Christmasy’ spirit, and last Wednesday the 9th of November was no exception to the rule. A group of 20 members visited The Pudding Shop in Upton Upon Severn to lean how to make Christmas puddings!
Working in pairs we meticulously weighed out our ingredients and added them in the correct order. Before long the air was thick with the lovely Christmasy smells of nutmeg and cinnamon and the chatter and laughter of everyone enjoying themselves (also the odd raisin flying through the air to one another!)
After our pudding ingredients where combined thoroughly, we decanted the mixtures in to separate pots and covered them with tin foil. They will then be steam cooked and the all-important brandy added.
After making our puddings we all had a well earned rest with a cup of tea and mince pie and learnt a little more about the history of the humble Christmas pudding and also some of the other yummy steamed puddings available at The Pudding Shop. We finished the evening with a rousing rendition of ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas’ which put us all in the festive spirit.
A huge thank you has to go to Dorothy, Don and all their team at The Pudding Shop. A brilliant time was had by all and we will certainly be back!
